Architecture is Heavy. It Provides Resistance.

Everybody is afraid of the unstoppable power of capital. Now that it has permeated all areas of culture and society, we have no other choice but to work within, not against, the flows of globalization. Accepting these flows does not mean that a company should be complacent with them or with its current position. Even though resistance lost its position outside of the system a long time ago, it is still a necessary and useful agent of change. Only the most naive corporation would fight the enormous potential for growth that resistant strategies can offer.

Rather than simply fighting against established and dominant logic, truly resistant strategies exacerbate it, magnifying its forces into unexpected, but useful, directions. Such moves simultaneously reinforce and subvert the logic of capitalism. This not only exposes the daily restraints we are subject to, but also exhausts them. It breaks our preconceptions and enables us to re-evaluate our position within in the system. This opens the way for new and reflexive possibilities of control, understanding, and freedom within culture and the built environment.
